An “About Me” page seems almost redundant here, because if you’ve taken some time to read my blog you already know quite a lot. But let me see if I can summarize a bit, without all the drama of my day to day observations.
I’m from Southern California, but I’ve been in Arizona since 1994 when I came out here for university at ASU. I majored in Political Science and minored in Philosophy. I was in a fraternity, and my “pledge son” is still my best friend. I still keep in touch with many of my college friends.
After graduating I began a career in the IT industry, which was an evolution from my work designing websites for political campaigns. That work supported me through college, and became a much more desirable career after college when I found out that government and non-profit work paid barely above the poverty level. I ran my own political consulting firm for awhile with a business partner that I met through my work at the Democratic Party headquarters. We specialized in website design for Democratic candidates, but also dabbled in traditional media like those annoying postcards you get in mail. Some won their races, but most lost because this is still Arizona and Democrats don’t do very well outside of Tucson and Central Phoenix.
These days I’m a bit more involved in internet marketing than actual website design, but I still enjoy it all nonetheless. I’m running my own consulting business again, but this time I’m on my own – and it’s working out a thousand times better, having learned many lessons from my past venture. All of my clients are retail businesses, as I’ve pretty much had it with cash poor candidates who can’t pay their bills.
I work from home, which means that I’m usually dying to get out of the house by the end of the week. So I go out to restaurants, movies, clubs and bars quite a bit on the weekends. I have a great group of friends that I enjoy hanging out with. Most of us also travel together quite often, and if it seems like I’m always out of town…well, I am! It keeps me sane, and loving life.
